Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities of the Role:

  • Manage engineering resources in collaboration with the Engineering Manager, working with teams in Surrey and remotely with other business locations.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans.
  • Implement and monitor project controls and metrics, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting.
  • Coordinate project tasks and support engineering team members to ensure smooth execution.
  • Take minutes and record action items during project review meetings.
  • Oversee prototype builds, working closely with the Purchasing Manager and suppliers to optimise material sourcing and fabrication.
  • Identify and manage project risks, ensuring schedules and budgets remain on track.
  • Define and implement corrective actions if projects deviate from plan.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and best practices in project management.


Person Specification:

  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and principles.
  • A recognised project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, APM) is advantageous.
  • Proven experience in creating and maintaining project plans.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to other sites in the UK
  • Ideally qualified in engineering to Degree level with a good understanding of engineering principles.

Manufacturing Planner / Scheduler, Surrey, £40,000 - £50,000

Role:
This is a hands-on role and will involve the co-ordination and daily support of the production, materials, and product testing areas of the company. The role will provide direction and priorities that help support the Production Planning Manager and team focusing across the manufacturing and material control aspects of the business. It will drive support on projects and activities required to meet customer requirements and production schedules. The role will involve close liaison with all levels of staff across the company; including Logistics, Stores, Supply Chain, R&D, Service and Quality departments.

Key Responsibilities:
Planning, scheduling and co-ordinating the activities of the assembly area, stores and testing teams.
Working with supply chain and purchasing team to ensure supply of materials and components meets production schedules.
Working with the Logistics and Sales team to ensure that lead times are accurate and delays minimised.
Provision of updated information on production builds to the front end teams as and when schedules change.
Review skill sets and resources to ensure that production needs are met.
Review productivity and efficiency, with a view to cost reduction where possible.
Working with the new MRP implementation team develop a new approach to scheduling and workshop management, targeting a greater and longer term visibility of production / assembly schedules.
Design and presentation of monthly reports to senior management on build costs, schedules and efficiencies.


Qualifications and Experience
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in production scheduling preferably within a small volume engineering business
Good Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
Ability to accomplish goals and tasks with teams through teamwork, working to deadlines is important
Organised, ability to work under pressure and capable of working across many product lines.
Strong interpersonal skills and comfortable leading discussion and debate both within peer group, business partners, and senior management

Job Title: Director of Production - Manufacturing

Role:
Reporting to the main board the position will form a pivotal and high profile role within the production area of the company.

This senior hands on role will have complete responsibility for all aspects of manufacturing and will be tasked to develop and implement a production strategy capable of meeting the company’s current output and future growth aspirations. 

  • Liaison with all levels of staff and management will be required with regular reporting to Directors of the business.
  • Management and Planning of the manufacturing operation and the creation of a new production management ethos across the company based on industry accepted best practices
  • Working with the production planners to ensure that the workshop is kept loaded and capacity planning systems are developed to assist with the workflow management.
  • Development and implementation of new processes and procedures aimed at improving build efficiency and streamlining the production process
  • Scheduling of production and repair activities in accordance with customer needs.
  • Development of our MRP / MPS systems and with the production engineering group to ensure product BOM’s are structured correctly
  • Management and review of re-order points, stock levels and safety stocks
  • Management and development of the production team. Ensuring that staff are fully trained and competent to carry out safe and correct working practices with regularly updated skills matrices.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and cost reduction projects, with the development of KPI’s to measure delivery.
  • Working with the production engineering and quality group to ensure the correct distribution of all manufacturing documentation and the co-ordination of production queries with the Quality / Change Control system.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & EXPECTATIONS IMPROVEMENT

  • A qualified engineer with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in production management in an engineering environment
  • Last roles must include at least two SME production environments
  • A detailed knowledge of Planning, BOM maintenance and creation, Work Orders and Sales Order Management within an MRP System
  • A natural and assertive leader, capable of working under their own initiative
  • Proven experience in the development and implementation of new processes and able to clearly demonstrate production improvements and achievements.
  • High level of competence with Microsoft Excel and analytical tools
  • Prepared to work on a hands on basis, the role is categorically not shuffling papers in an office.
